In 2008, Chalice, formerly known as Christian Child Care International (CCCI), and the Mikinduri Children of Hope (MCoH) were excited to announce that we had combined resources to relieve poverty and hunger in Mikinduri of Kenya.
Chalice is an independent Canadian Catholic Sponsorship Organization with headquarters in Nova Scotia. Chalice sponsors over 44,000 children at 46 sponsor sites in 15 countries around the world regardless of race, creed or religion. The charity strives to alleviate the effects of poverty by offering an effective and trustworthy sponsorship program that reflects God’s love and mercy in the world.
We are indeed fortunate to to form a great partnership with Chalice. In 2009 we opened a joint office in Mikinduri and hired the necessary support staff. Their immediate responsibility after setting up the office was to begin the task of selecting the neediest children. To date almost 300 children have been sponsored by generous Canadians, who donate $33.00 per month. The funds are very rigorously tracked by child, with money being allocated to such areas as education, nutrition, healthcare, clothing and family/community support. In a survey done by a canadian financial magazine, Chalice was selected #1, with the lowest overhead operating costs.
As a result of our partnership, we jointly have been able to introduce other projects, especially in the area of agriculture.
Anyone wishing to sponsor a child may do so by phoning Chalice directly at 1-800-776-6855, or by going online to www.chalice.ca. Please indicate that you wish to sponsor a child in Mikinduri, Kenya. Together we can continue the fight against poverty and bring hope to the children of Mikinduri.
