Hope for the Future

Well, it took us 4 years, and we are finally back in Kenya! We have a great Team from Canada, excited to enjoy this magnificent country and help its people. We have 2 nurses: Kathy Mutch and Diana Clark, a land developer: Jack Baird, a 4th year chemistry student from UPEI: Sydney Whitlock, and me: Cheri Butt.
As we were travelling from Canada, Benard Mware, our consultant in Kenya, received a call from a group in Kenya we have been hoping to work with, the Sisters of the Good Shephard. Assuming of course we were in Canada, they asked to set a Zoom meeting with us for Friday morning to discuss a potential partnership with them. You can imagine their surprise when Benard suggested an in person meeting instead. 7am Friday morning (just 9 hours after our plane touched Kenyan soil), we met with Sister Catherine and Sister Theresa. Throughout our meeting we were constantly reminded, and fascinated, about how things worked out for us to be together. Being able to talk open and honestly with each other further confirmed, for both sides, that we are aligned in our desire to help those in need and to work together. Sister Catherine referred to it as “Holy Work”, and so it is!
Ted always talked about Hope, which was the word the Sisters used as we parted ways. Together we have Hope for the future and our work together, which will offer Hope to so many that need it most.
