2008 Giant Yard Sale - Volunteers Needed!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

We are starting to do some preliminary organizing for the 2008 MCOH Giant Yard Sale. So now is the time to save any “treasures” you no longer need or want when you do your spring cleaning. Please encourage all your family, friends, and neighbours to do likewise!! It is preferrable if you can hold items and deliver on the day before the sale. However, we can provide pick up and storeage if needed.

Place: Charlottetown Civic Centre
Date: Saturday, May 10, 2008 9am to 1pm

Whatever time you can give will be much appreciated. We require volunteers to work the during the following times:

Thurs, May 8th, 5pm to 7pm: set up tables and chairs

Friday, May 9th, 9am to 5 pm: load stuff onto dollies and take to the designated tables, people to organize items on each table.

Saturday, May 10, 8am to 3pm: Prior to the start, we do the final set up, getting your apron, float, and assigned table. Throughout the day, we need people to attend the tables.
At the end of the sale, we need folks to clean up, put chairs and tables back, and to take leftover items to Value Village (vans and trailers are helpful).

Most people cannot work the full day, so any time that you can give will be so appreciated.

In addition to the above, we need donations for the bake table and also to bake a few dozen extra muffins for the volunteers.

If you have a table preference, you can certainly let us know. e.g., books, sports gear, housewares.

We will need more volunteers than ever, so if you wish to participate, have lots of fun, and wear a beautiful MCOH apron, could you please contact us at spgagnon (at) hotmail (dot) com or phone 892-6316.

Because of the drastic effects of AIDS on families, the small village of Mikinduri now has more than 700 orphans. Relatives are stretched beyond their limits to cope. We are asking you to consider opening your heart to sponsor the many children and families who need assistance with their daily living. Your sponsorship will help provide crops, daily food, schooling, clothes for orphaned children and also for families who are caring for many children at one time. Many Mikinduri children and families will be featured and our prayer is for many Island families to sponsor these children. Please open your hearts and come out to support the neediest children of Mikinduri.

For more information please call Tammy MacKinnon at 628-6450.
